Toast: Improv Party Card Game
E-Commerce is HARD
When we first launched, we sold exclusively on our website. Knowing that driving traffic to your own website would be difficult, we set out to create alternative paths to purchasing Toast.

Enter Amazon and Walmart
So we decided to create an Amazon listing and a Walmart listing. We want to reach as many people as possible, mainly because the improv game of your average Joe is low, and why wouldn’t we want millions of people to play this hilarious new improv party card game?
So far… Walmart has been WEAK. We have had one sale on Walmart.com, but traffic has been essentially non-existent. We participated in the Walmart accelerator review program, which resulted in exactly nothing.
Amazon, on the other hand, was having some organic traffic. We enrolled in Amazon Vine (provide a free game in exchange for Amazon reviews from verified reviewers) and successfully gave away the maximum of 30 games. We’ve received 17 of the 30 reviews, have 21 reviews overall, with a 4.1 rating at the time of this post. Not too shabby if we do say ourselves.
But we still weren’t generating sales…
So, what did we do next? We started advertising on Amazon. Amazon makes it super easy to start off with advertising by having an Automatic Keyword selection, in which they choose the keywords for you. Our first campaign had a terrible ACOS (average cost of sales for you dweebs that don’t know what it is), but only resulted in 6 orders. In addition, we were able to narrow down a list of keywords that resulted in high impressions, high clicks, and those few search terms that resulted in orders.
We have now started the other kind of advertising with the Manual Keyword selection (based on the above) and hope to drive more orders this way. We will keep ya updated.
