But day after day, no one contacted him.
The piece of toast started to lose hope, thinking that he was destined to be alone forever.
But then, one day, a friendly slice of bread walked into the kitchen and saw the sign.
She immediately contacted the piece of toast and they hit it off.
They talked about everything from the perfect shade of golden-brown to the best toppings for toast.
Finally, the piece of toast had found a friend who cared about him and he was grateful for the simple sign that brought them together.
From then on, he was never alone again.
